January mtg response

January mtg looked at use of wiki's and RSS feeds. I found it interesting to look at additional features of wikipedia (ex: at the bottom of the page and left-hand column features) - all i had ever done was look up topics. Good to know that most entries are vetted withing 30 minutes of posting so site is quite reliable now. I can certainly see how seductive using online publishing via wikis can be. I know we can all set up free wikis but I am not certain I would use them consistently and thus effectively. The RSS feeds look really useful for acquiring info on specific topics or from certain sources - I will probably set up some connections with this. My main concerns with all of these is the amount of time to set up, screen, mark, peruse, etc. I think I need to get my feet wet with my own topics before using this in a class setting
